Paperfoundry / Delete pages

Delete pages from a PDF

Mark the pages you don't want, with their bin button or by typing page numbers, and save a new PDF without them. The pages you keep are copied unchanged.

  • No upload, no account
  • No file size cap
  • Keeps working offline once loaded

How to remove pages from a PDF

  1. Open the PDF. Every page appears as a numbered thumbnail. The example is a synthetic handbook, replaced as soon as you add your own file.
  2. Mark the pages to delete. Press the bin button under a page, or type numbers such as 2, 5-7 under Delete pages by number and press Delete. Marked pages fade and show a Deleted badge.
  3. Check the summary. It lists how many pages are kept and how many will be left out. Press a page's bin button again to keep it after all.
  4. Save. The new PDF is built from the kept pages only, then read back so you can see its page count.

Typing page numbers

  • Single pages and ranges: 3, 4-6 or both, separated by commas: 1, 4-6, 12.
  • Blank backs of a duplex scan: type the even pages, for example 2, 4, 6, 8, then check the thumbnails before saving.
  • Several files: when you add more than one PDF, numbers count positions on the board from 1, because page labels such as A3 or B1 repeat.

What happens to the rest of the file

  • Kept pages are copied into a new PDF unchanged: text stays selectable, and images keep their quality.
  • Deleted pages are left out completely, not hidden or covered, so their content is not in the new file.
  • Bookmarks and fillable form fields are not carried over. A digital signature stops being valid after any change.
  • Deleting pages removes only whole pages. To hide part of a page you keep, you need a redaction tool, which this site does not have.
  • The file usually gets smaller, roughly by the share of content on the deleted pages. For a size limit, run Compress PDF afterwards.

Delete PDF pages: questions and answers

Can I delete several pages at once?

Yes. Type page numbers and ranges such as 2, 5-7, 12 in the panel and press Delete. Each page also has its own bin button.

Can I delete pages that aren't next to each other?

Yes. Separate them with commas, for example 1, 4, 9-10, or press the bin button on each page.

Is a deleted page really gone?

Yes. The new PDF is built only from the pages you keep, so the content of deleted pages is not in the file at all. Your original file is not changed.

Can I undo a deletion?

Before saving, press the page's bin button again, or use Undo all changes to restore every page. After saving, open your original file again.

Will the file get smaller?

Usually, roughly by the share of content on the deleted pages. Fonts and images shared with pages you keep stay in the file. Use Compress PDF if you need a specific size.

Do bookmarks and form fields survive?

No. The new file is rebuilt from the kept pages, and bookmarks and fillable form fields are not carried over. Text and images on those pages stay exactly as they were.

Can I delete pages from a password-protected PDF?

Not directly. Encrypted PDFs are refused with a message. Open the file in your PDF reader with its password, save an unlocked copy, and use that copy here.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is read into this browser tab and processed by JavaScript running on your device. The result is created in memory and saved by your browser. You can check this yourself in the Network panel.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Yes, once the page has finished loading. The PDF code is downloaded when the page opens, so you can switch off Wi-Fi and keep working in the same tab. Reloading the page needs a connection again.
